Microneedling for Injury Scars

Microneedling is an effective treatment for scar resurfacing with permanent results. Micro needling works by creating micro-punctures to the scarred areas of skin. This process triggers the bodies natural healing response, helping to break down old scar tissue and stimulate fresh new collagen and elastin. If the scar is raised, the micro-needling will work to flatten the scar tissue. And if the scar is indented, the micro-needling will work to plump and re-build the scar tissue. When given the chance, the body is an incredible natural healer. When trauma is re-introduced to the scarred tissue in a controlled way, the body will work to restore damaged tissue to its original form. Sometimes scars, particularly burns, can make the skin feel tight or cause some pain and discomfort. Micro-needling will soften and loosen scar tissue to make the skin more elastic and moveable. Microneedling will also help to stimulate melanin production within the skin which is responsible for your natural skin tone. Increasing melanin production to the scarred area will further help to blend the scar with the surrounding healthy skin.
