Stretch Marks, medical name Striae, are a type of scar that develop when the skin has been stretched in all directions (horizontally, vertically, and laterally). They typically appear when the skin stretches or shrinks quickly such as after pregnancy, weight gain, and puberty, and are most common on the tummy, breasts, chest, upper arms, legs, bottom, hips or back. The abrupt change to the skin causes the collagen and elastin to rupture, creating a stretch mark.
Stretch Mark Restoration, also known as Stretch Mark Resurfacing or Stretch Mark Removal, is a treatment used to improve the appearance of stretch marks through the process of inkless needling (micro-needling). Micro-needling, also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy (CIT), is used on the stretch marks to induce the bodies natural healing response to generate new collagen production and elastin. Pure hyaluronic acid serum is used during the needling process to infuse the skin with a boost of hydration. The result leaves the skin stronger, smoother, and firmer, as well as improving the colour of the stretch mark to blend more seamlessly with your natural skin tone. If the colour of the stretch mark does not improve with micro-needling alone, I use a colour dispersion technique with skin-toned pigments to further camouflage the stretch mark.
Medical grade needles and equipment are used during this treatment. Clients will see on average a 20% to 90% improvement to their stretch marks once the treatment is completed and fully healed. The amount of sessions vary from case to case & will be discussed in full during your free consultation. On average, each client will need between 1 - 6 sessions. Healing time can vary from 4 - 12 weeks between each session. The results of a Stretch Mark Restoration treatment may need maintenance depending on individual lifestyle and changes in the body.
