Surgical scars that can be treated include face-lift scars, breast augmentation scars, arm lift scars, tummy tuck scars, C-section scars, and more. The scar to be treated should be at least 6 months old or fully healed. 1 - 6 sessions are needed on average to complete the treatment. Once complete, the results are permanent.
Microneedling for Surgical Scars
Micro-needling has been used as an effective treatment for scar resurfacing for several years. The process of micro needling involves creating micro-punctures to the scarred areas of skin. This process triggers the bodies natural healing response which helps to break down old scar tissue and stimulate fresh new collagen and elastin. If the scar is raised, the micro-needling will work to flatten the scar tissue. And if the scar is indented, the micro-needling will work to plump and re-build the scar tissue. Microneedling also stimulates the production of melanin which is responsible for the natural pigment in your skin. Increased melanin production will further help to blend the scar with the surrounding healthy skin.
